That Camden Summer

That Camden Summer (Cassette) - LaVyrle Spencer, David Dukes Okay, this one - hmmm. First of all the narrator is David Dukes who is great on TV, but makes the men sound like the guys from the Smuckers or Long John Silvers commercials. Yes, I get that this takes place in Maine, but it was such a caricature of the men. Now the women with slight differences were all intoned as stick up the butts matriarchs with Maine accents. This is just how they came across in the narration. I've seen David Dukes acting on TV and he's never been this awful, maybe it's just Maine characters that throws him for a loop.

That said, I didn't care for the heroine. She seemed to be coming back to town with a chip on her shoulder and was yelling at and over people and seemed to be constantly interrupting people to give them a piece of her mind. There's a rape scene in this book that I found really boring, believe it or not. Those are usually very gripping and horrible to read for me. The villain was boring, her kids were obnoxious. Even the hero was boring. So I didn't care for it and gave it a rating commensurate with my statements above. Just *raspberry*.
