LONGBOURN by JO BAKER

Longbourn - Jo Baker

Such a disappointment!  This book was recommended by a Goodfriend and I made the mistake of really looking forward to reading it when I opened the book.  However, I just could not get into it.  The long details of household chores in the beginning of the book was a bad start to me.  And then to change some of the characters so substantially beyond what I think Jane Austen would ever have wanted was pretty awful to me.  If Jo Baker would have just concentrated on what was happening with the staff and peripherally mention the main characters of [book:Pride and Prejudice|1885], I think this would have made a much better book because I was interested in their lives.  And the homosexuality of a nominal [book:Pride and Prejudice|1885] character didn't bother me at all which I see bothered other reviewers.
